The first remarkable sign of Anxiety Disorder is that the patient is nervous and shaky all the time. There are various manifestations of physiological and psychological characters manifested later. The worrisome situation prevents one from doing what she or he needs to do, making life dull. The state of relaxation, sleep and concentration seem to evaporate from ones life. Added feelings of fatigue, irritation and tension, seem to rule the life. Short trips give a drained out feeling. Patients of Anxiety Disorder feel sleepy most of the time due to insomnia.
A) The Physical signs
• Feeling fatigued and ill
• dry mouth and cold hands
• Palpitation and feeling short of breath
• Pain in chest
• Pain and joints, and headache
• Sweating and nausea
• Diarrhea
B) The Psychological signs
A feeling of dizziness and light-headedness, feeling shaky, fast breathing. Palpitations, churning stomach with a need to frequent visit to toilet are more psychological signs. Lessened supply of blood to the brain induces light-headed and dizzy conditions; and the dizziness in turn causes the feeling of butterflies in the stomach.
Behavior:
• a clear inclination to avoid people; hurrying out of places and avoiding doing going out in the public, shunning crowds keeping away from any situation which causes one to feel exposed
• taking drinks or pills to suppress the feeling of shakiness
Thought:
• Frightened feeling as if people are watching
• overpowering worries of loosing control and making a fool of him or herself and wanting to escape for safety
Shyness:
• Uncomfortable feeling in company of people that is a form of social phobia
Worries:
• Uncontrollable worry over most of the situations or events
Avoidance:
• Trying to keep out of a situation where one may be subject to evaluation
Obsession and compulsion:
• To overcome the inner fear and compulsive tendency of protecting or hedging the self
C) The Physiological signs
Perfectionism:
• The feel of needing to be best by all parameters of comparison like best in looks, best in deeds, best in wits, best in physique etc.
Comparing:
• As a by-product of perfectionism the habit of comparing oneself with others
Self-consciousness:
• Constantly being aware of ones self
Child-like:
• Intense craving for love, affection and approval from others
Fantasies:
• Short-lived and frequent daydreaming to forget reality
Ending sentences in questions:
• This serves the patients with purpose to cut the talks short.
• This is depicted by habit of worry that others are treated better in comparison of what is received by the patient.
Body Image:
• The feeling of physical inferiority.
Posture:
• Poor body language projecting lack of confidence; retracted and apologetic.
Attitude:
• Persistently negative.
